my calling

Ok this post is going to be the story of how I was called to embark upon this adventure. It will contain most of the details some of them I have shared with a few people but not others. A few details you should know about me and my situation before you read the story of how I was called to hike across America. First is that I am broke I spent the last $6.00 I had in change on gas to go to church on the night that I was called. I am a college dropout but not because I am not smart enough to go but because I couldn't afford it. Finally I am an eagle scout (I have a lot of camping experience).
To start the night off I am deciding to go across town to a church because they have an awesome youth program and I am thinking of making it my home church. So I drop my mom off at her church then I head over to the one I am attending for the evening. During service they played a video clip of people in need.

During this video a worship song was playing and the words were on the screen so I sang along. While I am praising God a thought comes into my head. “I should hike across America.” I shrugged the thought off with a laugh thinking that it was so funny, and I then returned to worshiping. Well not but a short time after that the thought returns. “I should really hike across America.” Well this time I take a small note of it being as it has interrupted my praise twice, and I brush the thought aside so I can return to worship. One more time the thought comes back only this time it is a loud command (I have described this as a yelling but command seems to fit better) “I SHOULD REALLY HIKE ACROSS AMERICA.” Well this time I decide that I should pray about it.

Well when I decided that I should pray about it the video ended and shortly afterwards there was an alter call. I went up and started praying about this hike. Well doing what any human does I doubted that it was God telling me to hike across America. Thus I asked God to confirm that he wanted me to hike across America. About that time someone laid a hand on me in prayer. I remember being thankful for the prayer but didn’t pay it any more mind. After a little while they remove their hand and again I ask God to confirm that he wants me to hike across America. This time two hands are instantly laid upon me. I notice the pattern and decide to make sure I am not making things up and ask God one more time to confirm that he wants me to hike across America. Immediately as though they were waiting for me to ask a third hand was laid upon me. So I have my confirmation.

And once I knew I pulled a Moses and started telling God all the reasons that I could not hike across America. EX: “I have no money.” “I would have no where to stay.” “I don’t know where my next meal will come from.”… Well I am on my way home. I pick up my mom and I am driving home with her telling her about what happened. Then I am telling her my concerns with doing it and she reminded me of when Jesus called the disciples and the disciples left everything they were doing and followed Jesus taking little to nothing with them. Through this God reminded me that he will provide for my needs if I will do his work.

This is the story of how I was called to hike across America. I will be using this site to send out updates and possibly post pictures along my journey.

  3. Hello.
I met you today in Maple Shade NJ while you were walking down Main Street. I gave you a bottle of water. I would have liked to give more but I am a little low on funds and have a child to think of. I just wanted to say God Bless you for what was called upon you to do. I hope you have a safe and wonderful journey till you make it back home. May God keep you and bless all of our children.
